Parisa Azadi

Come, come, whoever you are.

Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving - It doesn't matter.

Ours is not a caravan of despair.

Come even if you have broken your vow a thousand time.

Come, yet again, come, come.

Rumi

Birds Are Pilgrims, Too is a meditation on grief, tradition, and remembrance in the wake of tragedy with Hossaini Dalan, a congregation hall for Shia Muslims in Dhaka, Bangladesh, as its central subject. Bombed by Pro-Islamic State militants in 2015 during an annual mourning procession, Hossaini Dalan remains a holy site for people of diverse faiths to gather daily for meditation and prayer. Birds Are Pilgrims, Too highlights the impetus for harmony amid sporadic sectarian violence and considers the social and cultural complexities of Shia identity and its influence across the Muslim world.
